Welcome to ZAFES
The Zambia Fellowship of Evangelical Students. For over 50 years, we’ve empowered students to share the Gospel, nurture faith, and transform campuses across Zambia. Our mission is to “challenge students with an opportunity to know Christ and be nurtured to impact society for a lifetime.” Join us as we equip the next generation of Christian leaders. ZAFES began in the early 1960s with small group Bible studies led by expatriate lecturers at the University of Zambia and evolved into a nationally coordinated student ministry. Over the decades—from Hank and Cathy Pott’s initial work to the leadership of pioneers like Derek Mutungu and Barnabas Mwindula —ZAFES has grown into a vibrant movement impacting over 70 higher-learning institutions across Zambia. Our Community
ZAFES is not a church but a specialized ministry to students of post- secondary education institutes. We aim to unite all evangelical Christian students into a caring and worshiping body that spurs each other to love and good deeds. Our members are strongly encouraged to be members of a local church.
Our mission
At ZAFES, our mission is to promote interest and active involvement in World Missions among Christian students and graduates wherever God places them. On campus, students are encouraged to view themselves as missionaries to the student world
Spirituality
We are committed to the proclamation of the gospel of Christ and to a biblical faith as summarized in the doctrinal basis of faith. ZAFES activities are open to everyone. But a personal faith in Christ and an agreement with the basis of Faith are essential for membership.
